Our Reading Journey

The purpose of our Reading Journey is to outline the carefully curated Storytime map we have here at Stone School. In order to offer a diverse and enriching literary experience for our students, we have thoughtfully selected texts that they will encounter throughout each academic year. This journey is not exhaustive and the children will also hear other texts throughout the year and other subjects.

Multiplication Check

In June each year, children in Year will sit a national Multiplication Check.

The purpose of the check is to determine whether your child can fuently recall their times tables up to 12, which is essential for future success in mathematics. It will also help your child’s school to identify if your child may need additional support.

We will be teaching and testing x tables each week. Please find the schedule below.

Life in Year 4

Swimming

As per the requirements of the 2014 National Curriculum in England, swimming is a compulsory part of the PE curriculum for primary school children. Mastery of swimming skills not only promotes physical health but also sets the foundation for water safety.

From 2024 In Year 4, our aim is to ensure that all children meet the national curriculum requirement of swimming 25 metres unaided. This is an essential milestone that contributes towards the achievement of the national award.
